Remove Photo Metadata Without Uploading
WipePic removes photo metadata inside your browser, so your photo is not uploaded. Drop a photo on the box below to clean it. The work runs on your device, and you can check this yourself in the Network tab of your browser.

How WipePic works on your device
- You choose photos. Your browser opens them from your device, and they stay in the memory of the page.
- A Web Worker in your browser reads each file and finds the hidden data: location, camera details, dates, editing history, AI labels and more.
- The worker builds a new file without the private data. It copies the image data as it is, so the pixels do not change.
- The worker reads the new file again, and WipePic saves it only if no removable metadata is left.
- You download the cleaned file, or one ZIP file for several photos.
Read the architecture page for the details.
How to check it yourself
You do not need to trust a claim. Test it:
- Open WipePic in Chrome, Edge or Firefox and press F12.
- Select the Network tab and clear the list.
- Clean a photo and download it.
- Look at the list. You may see Google Analytics requests, which the site uses for visit statistics. No request carries your photo.
You can also try this: let the page load fully, turn off your connection and then try to clean a photo. Cleaning is done in your browser, but we have not promised an offline mode, so treat this as a test and not as a feature. We ran the Network test for you, and the results are in the Zero-Storage Audit. The guide how to check that a metadata remover does not upload works for any tool, not only ours.
What leaves your device
- Photos: nothing. They are not uploaded.
- File names and metadata: nothing.
- Visit statistics: the site uses Google Analytics. These requests do not include your photos.
The site also sends a content security policy that lets the page connect only to the WipePic site and to Google Analytics and Tag Manager hosts.
Why this matters for photos
The hidden data in a photo can hold your exact location and the model of your phone. An upload-based tool needs you to trust its server with that data. A tool that runs in your browser does not need your trust in the same way, because the file never leaves your device.
What WipePic keeps and removes
It removes location (GPS), camera and phone model and serial numbers, date and time taken, author and copyright, editing apps and history, AI labels, Content Credentials (C2PA), text notes, embedded thumbnails and Motion Photo video. It keeps the orientation, the color profile, transparency, animation and the HDR gain map. It cannot remove pixel watermarks, visible content or faces.
Questions
Can I really remove photo metadata without uploading the photo?
Yes. WipePic runs in your browser. A background worker in the page reads your photo, removes the hidden data and builds the cleaned file on your device. The photo is not sent to a server.
How can I check that my photo is not uploaded?
Open the developer tools of your browser (press F12), select the Network tab, and then clean a photo. You will see requests for the page and for Google Analytics, but no request that carries your photo. The Zero-Storage Audit shows the result of this test, and the guide on checking a metadata remover has the steps for any tool.
Does WipePic work offline?
The cleaning runs in your browser, so it should not need the network. WipePic has no offline mode that we promise, though. If you want to test it, let the page load fully, turn off your connection, and then try to clean a photo. Some extras, such as converting to AVIF or opening HEIC files, load their own code when you first use them, so try your test with the options that you need.
Does the site make any requests at all?
Yes. Your browser downloads the page files from the WipePic site, and the site uses Google Analytics for visit statistics. Photos, file names and metadata are not part of these requests. The content security policy of the site also limits the page to connect only to the WipePic site and Google Analytics hosts.
What happens to my photo when I close the tab?
The photo stays on your device. WipePic does not keep a copy on a server, and it does not keep a history of what you cleaned. Your original file does not change, and the cleaned file is the one that you download.
Which photo types can it clean without uploading?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, GIF, TIFF and DNG, up to 300 photos in a batch and up to 50 MB each. Folders with subfolders work too.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no daily limit.
