Remove AI Metadata From Images
WipePic removes AI metadata from images in your browser. It deletes generation settings and prompts, AI labels and embedded C2PA Content Credentials from the file, and it never uploads your image. It does not remove invisible watermarks in the pixels.

Where AI information hides in an image
An AI image can carry its history in the file. Some tools save the prompt and the settings as text inside a PNG. Some write a label in the XMP metadata that says the image was made by AI. Some add signed Content Credentials (C2PA), which record how the image was made and edited. A person who opens the file in a metadata viewer can read all of this. Platforms can read it too.
What WipePic removes for AI images
WipePic removes these AI fields when it finds them:
- AI generation settings in PNG: the
parameters, promptandworkflowtext entries, and theDream,sd-metadataandinvokeai_metadataentries. WipePic removes every PNG text chunk, so any other text that a tool wrote there goes too. - AI label in XMP: the IPTC digital source type, for example
trainedAlgorithmicMedia(made with AI) orcompositeWithTrainedAlgorithmicMedia(edited with AI). WipePic removes the whole XMP block. - Content Credentials (C2PA manifest): the manifest stored in the file as JUMBF data. WipePic finds it in JPEG files (APP11 segments), PNG files (the
caBXchunk) and WebP files (theC2PAchunk). - Software and editing history: the tool name (for example the XMP creator tool and the EXIF software field), XMP edit history and editing settings.
- Comments and descriptions: text in the comment, description, title and keyword fields of EXIF, XMP, IPTC, PNG and GIF, where some tools also write their prompt.
- Camera and date fields: device details, dates and author fields, which AI tools and editors also sometimes write.
WipePic keeps only what the image needs to display: the rotation, the colour profile, and, where the file has them, transparency, animation and HDR data. After cleaning, WipePic checks the new file. If the check finds a manifest or any other metadata left, it does not save the file.
What WipePic cannot remove
- Invisible watermarks in the pixels, such as SynthID. They are part of the image, and WipePic never edits pixels.
- Visible marks, such as a logo or a text label drawn on the image.
- C2PA records stored outside the file. Some services keep the credentials in a cloud store and only point to them from the image. WipePic can remove the embedded data, but not a record on a server.
- Labels that a platform adds. Another service can classify an image as AI by other means, and copies that you posted earlier keep their own data.
Removing metadata does not change your duty to say that an image is AI-generated where a platform, a client or the law asks you to.
How to remove AI metadata
- Add your images to the tool above.
- Check the list of fields that WipePic found. AI settings, AI labels and Content Credentials appear by name.
- Download the cleaned copies. The originals stay unchanged on your device.

Questions
Does WipePic remove C2PA Content Credentials?
Yes, when the credentials are stored inside a JPEG, PNG or WebP file. WipePic removes the embedded C2PA manifest and checks the new file, and it does not save the file if a manifest is still there. It cannot remove C2PA records that are stored outside the file, for example in a cloud service.
Does it remove invisible AI watermarks such as SynthID?
No. WipePic removes metadata, which is data stored next to the image. A watermark that is built into the pixels is part of the image itself, and WipePic never changes pixels.
Will Instagram, TikTok or other platforms still label my image as AI?
They can. Platforms may detect AI images by other signals, such as a pixel watermark, their own classifiers, or a label from a copy that was posted earlier. WipePic cannot control what another service shows. Platform rules about disclosing AI content also still apply to you.
Which AI tools put settings in an image?
Many local image generators write the prompt and settings into PNG text chunks, for example the Parameters, Prompt and Workflow entries that WipePic recognises. Other tools write an AI label in the XMP metadata, and some add C2PA Content Credentials. WipePic removes all of these from the file.
Is my AI image uploaded when I remove the metadata?
No. WipePic runs in your browser and your image stays on your device. WipePic is free, with no account and no usage quota.
