PNG PROMPT REMOVER

Remove Stable Diffusion Metadata From PNG

WipePic removes the prompt and settings that Stable Diffusion tools save inside a PNG. It deletes the A1111 parameters entry and the ComfyUI prompt and workflow entries, keeps transparency, and works in your browser. Your images are not uploaded.

What Stable Diffusion tools save in a PNG

A PNG file is a list of chunks. Some tools use text chunks to save how an image was made. Anyone who gets the PNG can read them with a metadata viewer.

  • AUTOMATIC1111 (A1111): one text entry named parameters. It holds the prompt, the negative prompt, and settings such as seed, sampler, steps, CFG scale, size and model. This is the entry that the PNG Info tab reads.
  • ComfyUI: two JSON text entries. prompt is the graph that ComfyUI ran. workflow is the full node layout that ComfyUI uses to rebuild your canvas when you drop the PNG on it. The ComfyUI documentation says that animated WebP files store the same data in EXIF tags (checked November 2026).
  • Other tools: WipePic also recognises older or other entries such as Dream, sd-metadata and invokeai_metadata.

A workflow can show your model names, your node set-up and the exact prompt. That is often more than you want to share with a client, a buyer or a public site.

What WipePic removes from the PNG

  • PNG text chunks. WipePic removes every text chunk, so it does not matter which key the tool used.
  • Other hidden data: a time stamp, XMP and EXIF data, and embedded Content Credentials (C2PA).

WipePic keeps the color profile and transparency, and the animation of an animated PNG. It does not re-encode the image, so the pixels are the same. After cleaning, it re-reads the new file and does not save it if removable metadata is still in it. See also remove metadata from PNG images.

How to remove the prompt from a PNG

  1. Add your PNG files to the tool above. You can also add a folder, up to 300 files at once.
  2. Check the list. WipePic names the AI generation settings that it found.
  3. Click Remove hidden data and download the cleaned files. Several files come as one ZIP.

Keep your original files. Once the entries are gone, you cannot load the prompt or the workflow from the cleaned copy.

How to stop the generator from writing metadata

You can turn the feature off at the source. These settings only change new files.

  • A1111: open the settings and turn off Write infotext to metadata of the generated image. The option is named enable_pnginfo in the source code, and it is on by default. In version 1.7 and later it sits in the Infotext section, and the place can differ in other versions.
  • ComfyUI: start it with python main.py --disable-metadata. In ComfyUI Desktop, open Settings, then Server-Config, and turn on Disable saving prompt metadata in files.

With these switches off, you also lose the ability to drag a PNG back into the generator to restore its settings. If you want to keep that ability, leave the switches on and clean only the copies that you share.

What WipePic cannot do

  • It cannot remove a watermark inside the pixels, such as SynthID, or a visible mark.
  • It cannot control how a website decides that an image is AI-made. Sites can use other signals.
  • It does not edit or add metadata. It only removes it.

Questions

How do I remove Stable Diffusion metadata from a PNG?

Add the PNG to the tool above. WipePic removes the text chunks where Stable Diffusion tools save the prompt and the settings, and it removes other hidden data too. Then download the cleaned PNG. The picture is not re-encoded, so the pixels stay the same, and the original file on your device does not change.

Where does Automatic1111 store the prompt in a PNG?

AUTOMATIC1111 (A1111) writes one text entry named "parameters". It holds the prompt, the negative prompt and settings such as seed, sampler, steps, CFG scale, size and model (AUTOMATIC1111 wiki and source code, checked November 2026). The PNG Info tab of the web UI reads this entry. WipePic removes it.

Does WipePic remove the ComfyUI workflow from a PNG?

Yes. The ComfyUI documentation says that its save nodes write two JSON entries into PNG text chunks, named "prompt" and "workflow", unless metadata saving is turned off (Comfy-Org docs, checked November 2026). WipePic removes every PNG text chunk, so both entries go. After that, dropping the PNG into ComfyUI will not restore the workflow.

Does it keep transparency and image quality?

Yes. WipePic does not re-encode the PNG. It keeps the image data as it is, so pixels and transparency do not change. It also keeps the color profile. It re-reads the cleaned file and saves it only if no removable metadata is left.

How do I stop Stable Diffusion tools from writing metadata?

In A1111, turn off "Write infotext to metadata of the generated image" in the settings (the option is called enable_pnginfo). In ComfyUI, start the server with "python main.py --disable-metadata". ComfyUI Desktop has the same switch under Settings, Server-Config, "Disable saving prompt metadata in files". These settings only affect new files. They do not clean files that you already made.

Can I get the prompt back after I clean the PNG?

No. WipePic deletes the entries and does not keep a copy. Keep your original files if you want to reuse the prompt or the workflow later, and share the cleaned copies.

Can I clean many Stable Diffusion images at once?

Yes. You can add up to 300 files at once, or a whole folder, and each file can be up to 50 MB. Several files download as one ZIP. WipePic is free, with no account and no daily quota, and your images are not uploaded.
