What to know about this conversion

• WipePic encodes AVIF with your browser when it can. Otherwise it loads an AVIF encoder (about 3.4 MB) into your browser the first time you convert to AVIF, and encodes on your device. The download of the encoder is shown as progress. A 12-megapixel picture can take 20 to 30 seconds.
• The AVIF is lossy and has a Quality slider that starts at 85.
• The Quality slider goes from low to high and starts at 85. A higher value keeps more detail and makes a larger file.
• The converted photo is turned upright using its Orientation tag, and the new file has the extension .avif.
• When the colors of a photo cannot be kept in the new file, WipePic converts them to sRGB and shows a note on the file.
