How to convert AVIF to PNG
- Add your AVIF photos. Drop them on the box above, or pick them from your device. You can add up to 300 files in one batch, each up to 50 MB.
- Check that the Format is set to PNG. WipePic has already chosen PNG for you on this page.
- Download the PNG files. One file is saved as it is, and several files are saved as a ZIP.
Why convert AVIF to PNG?
You have an AVIF image and need a lossless PNG that keeps transparency and opens in any program.
What to know about this conversion
- WipePic reads AVIF with the decoder of your browser. If your browser cannot open AVIF, the file cannot be converted and the row shows an error.
- PNG has no quality setting and keeps transparency. The file is usually much larger than the AVIF. An AVIF image sequence (animation) is not converted.
- The converted photo is turned upright using its Orientation tag, and the new file has the extension .png.
- When the colors of a photo cannot be kept in the new file, WipePic converts them to sRGB and shows a note on the file.
Your photos stay on your device
The conversion runs in your browser. WipePic does not upload your photos, does not need an account and has no usage quota. Each converted file is also cleaned of its hidden metadata, so you can share it right away.
Questions
Does the PNG keep the transparency of my AVIF?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, and transparent pixels stay transparent.
Why is the PNG so much larger than the AVIF?
AVIF is one of the most efficient image formats. PNG stores every pixel without loss, so the file grows a lot. Use JPG or WebP if you need a small file.
Can I convert many AVIF files at once?
Yes. Add up to 300 files in one batch, each up to 50 MB. Several results are saved as a ZIP file.
Does the AVIF to PNG conversion remove metadata?
Yes. WipePic removes the hidden metadata, such as the GPS location, the camera model and the capture time, and then converts the picture. The new PNG file is cleaned once more, so it carries none of it.
